Conclusion

By doing this project, I realize how much of a need for clothing there is in our city.  So many residents are showless, have no jacket, or stuff to keep them warm.  I really hope that through this project I helped a good amount of people.  Although I did not meet my "quota" I still am glad that I did this.  It got the school more involved, and doing something.  i also learned how much harder getting a clothing drive is thanI thought it was.  This was a good first community project.

A Little is Better than Nothing :)

stock photo : Pile of clothes isolated on white backgroundBy the end of this week I hope to increase a little bit.  I kind of went into this thinking it was going to be easy.  I learned that this is not easy.  There are a lot of things that need to go into a clothing drive.  I will be satisfied with wht I collect because I know that those clothes will beneifit someone in Williamsport.

My Turn!!

Tomorrow on Thursday I am going to go through my winter stuff at my mom's house, and see if there is any items I can donate to the cause.  I do not know how open my mom and step-dad will be to me doing this, but it is at least worth a try.  Most of the stuff is my sisters, so I will have to ask her.  If nothing is successful with this plan I will go through my winter clothing at my dad's house to see if I have something there.

How I want to Finish

By Friday 10/26/12 I would like to collect the clothes however many are in the bins and bring them home.  Then, I will call/email Salvation Army here in Williamsport asking them when is a good time to drop off the donations.  If they even need them, or want them.  If for some reason they are not taking donations right now I will contact another shelter, or clothing drive place to take them to.  I am so excited to see the results!! :)

THe More People the Better!!!

Today as I was heading to class I walked pass my box and poster.  I noticed some people coming down the opposite side of the hallway, and they stopped in front of my poster.  Believe it or not, they started reading it!!  I can not believe this!! It gave me a little sence of encouragement that things are going to work out, and this whole thing will not be a fail.  I hope that the people who stopped and read it will donate to the cause cause the more clothes we collect, the more people have clothing for the winter.

This is not a Trashcan!! >:(

So today during 7th period I went passed my bin where the donations are supposed to be put.  There are clothes in there no worries, but in the midst of all the clothing someone put their wrapper in the bin.  EWW!!!  Can they not see that the clothes are going to people in need.  I mean come on.  On the bright side though I have been raising awareness and have been getting some clothing in the bins!! WOO!!

First Donation! :)

Today on 10/17/12 I got my first donation for my clothing drive.  The interesting thing is that my box  that I had out in the first place got taken or stolen.  This really put a downer and lost of motivation on things because I started thinking that I could not do this.  But today, the family that donated the stuff left it in a big box!! :D  That is AMAZING!  The family that donated it still has more to come!! That is is so cool!! I am just hoping and praying a lot that this project will beneifit lots of people young and old.

All Set Up!!

Today, on October 15, 2012 I set up my community project in the high school lobby.  I hung a  poster that explained what I was trying accomplish by doing this project.  I do not just want to de this for the grade I want to do it because I truly want to help people.  Guess what!?!? It is only the first day and I already got a donator.  You see, to raise awareness, I talk to people about what I am doing.  I will also put up signs around the school to spread the word.  We will see where we are at by the end of next week. :)

Yesterday, I got my idea approved by Dr. Rietz.  I need to go chack with the custonians to see see if they have any bins I can use for the drive, or I will just bring some from home.  I researched some homless shelters in WIlliamsport to donate the clothing to.  I want to set one up in the middle school, so I need to talk to Mr. Gaetano.

Game Plan(:

Goal:  My goal is to give homeless people winter clothing for the winter months by collecting at least 40 clothing items.

Reasoning:  As I am getting more and more involved with missions, I realize that I need to start doing something.

What will I do: Collect winter clothes (coats, scarfs, gloves, hats, snow suits, or even closed toed shoes and pants) by putting together clothing drive in the middle school and high school.  Then take the donations to a specific homeless shelter/shelters.

Who will help me: The school because I have to get my clothing drive idea approved, and also my youthgroup.  But mainly, on my own with some advice from my parents.

What will I need:  I will need to get together a clothing drive.  And other ways to get awareness.

When will I do it:  I want to try to get something actively going, like for instance getting a group of people to go to a homeless shelter once or twice a week to bring food and clothing to them

How will I know when I am done:  I do not know how long it  will take exactly to get finished.
